1. Oh my guuuuuuh, Ace Attorney was so good :D

Turns out live-action video game adaptations don’t have to be rubbishy! It actually managed to capture seriously ridiculous nature of the games while still working as a film in its own right. Even my friend who knew basically nothing about the games really enjoyed it (which is good, cause I was worried that she wouldn’t really get it, after I’d practically forced her to come).

I also thought they brought the cartoon-style design of the characters to life really well. No-one really looked like a ‘real-life’ person as such, but they didn’t just look like cosplayers or anything either. Redd White was weird, though, he looked nothing like he does in the game.

It was a shame they didn’t really have much of the third case, though. Steel Samurai forever!

I also loved the way they integrated the common character animations. All the evidence was projected by a giant holographic screen, and Phoenix’s pointing would thrust the screen into the prosecutor’s face. And slamming his hands onto the desk would cause the evidence on the screen to change (somehow). Subtle things, but clever.

Also, I think they tried to make Maya look a few years older. Possibly for legal reasons.
